Climate controlled! What is a Yurt? Yurts originated in Mongolia. The Mongolian people were nomadic, and they took their homes (yurts) with them as they tended to, and traveled, with their livestock. Today yurts are built on a platform & consist of two thick layers of canvas with a layer of insulation in between, and most notably a domed skylight at their center. 5 mins to Alpine, 30 mins to Fort Davis, Marfa, and Marathon. Big Bend Park, Terlingua, & Lajitas are roughly 100 miles away.

Mountain View Guest House

A well-maintained guesthouse with the feel of the Old West. Located far enough out of Alpine to give you a rural feel, but just minutes from downtown, the guesthouse is 30 feet from our house. Just past Alpine city limits, quiet and with great views close to town. This is an Adobe house built in the 1950’s with natural earthen floors made of clay brick. The back yard backs up to an undeveloped ranch, providing privacy and open spaces- with plenty of deer, fox, javelina, and bird of prey passing through. The Milky Way can be observed from this location. The Ranchito is a quick 25 minute drive from Marfa. Alpine is a great spot to access all points of the Big Bend.
