Highbourne Cottages - Protea | Mountain Retreat

Tucked away on the side of a mountain overlooking the surrounding mountains. Protea cottage is open plan family cottage with the heart of the cottage opening onto a wooden deck – the perfect spot to watch the setting sun. The cottage sleeps up to four people with one large open planned studio-style bedroom on the ground floor and an open loft upstairs with two single beds, just perfect for a family of 4. The studio design allows flow from the well-equipped kitchen to the lounge area and bedroom.

Mpofu Lodge

Nestled within the foothills of Cathkin Peak, Mpofu Lodge offers a peaceful escape from the bustle of city life whilst being within close range of Champagne Sports Resort, the Drakensberg Boys' Choir School and Monks Cowl. Enjoy all the berg has to offer from our self-catering accommodation which boasts three en-suite bedrooms in the main house, a plunge pool, fireplace and endless vistas. There is a separate family style suite detached from the house which can accommodate a further two people.

Cairn Cottage is a 3 bedroomed house on Cathkin Estates, in the Champagne Valley of the Central Drakensberg. There are stunning views of Cathin Peak and Champagne Castle from the verandah of the cottage. Cathkin Estate has a multitude of bird and animal life, and there are numerous walks and cycle paths , to explore. Within a short drive, of the Estate, there are restaurants, golf courses, spa , monks cowl nature reserve, Falcon Ridge- Bird of Prey Centre, laundromat, shopping centre.

The lovely Drakensberg mountains can be seen clearly from the wide veranda. The complex is very secure and has little trails to the dam.
