The Spruce Nest

Stay in a historic home in Old Town Steamboat Springs built 1907. We have added an entry, dining room, master bedroom and bath and powder bath. However, we have kept the original two-story home in tact, similar to the early 1900's. We even used original wood from the walls to accent the exterior. This is a simple cabin-home is located 7 miles up from the Colorado river on Sweetwater Creek. Three more miles up the road is Sweetwater Lake and the jump off area for the White River National Forest and the Flat Tops Wilderness area. Glenwood Springs is 32 miles down creek/river. Great access to hiking, floating, biking (Glenwood Canyon) and hunting, or best yet relaxing next to a beautiful creek. Brink's Outfitters at Sweetwater Lake has horses and guides for riding.

Adjacent to Routt National Forest and the Zirkel Wilderness. Nestled in the aspen and pines with private trails for hiking, biking, xc ski and snowshoe. 4wd or AWD preferred travel in winter. The Marmots, will often make an appearance. Wildlife abounds, moose, deer, elk pronghorn, bear, wolf and fox as well as many species of bird call this special place home. The spacious deck overlooks the forest and the mountains as well as the warm water ponds.

The guest area includes the entire basement of our home, with it's own private entrance, a living room area, bathroom and laundry facilities as well as a small kitchenette area stocked with breakfast items. The white river and fishing are within walking distance. We are surrounded by beautiful hiking and biking areas. There is an outdoor patio space to enjoy the peace and quiet of the white river valley.
