【UPDATE】【Important notice】Compensation for cancelled reservations booked using Go To Travel Campaign discount

Due to the temporary suspension of the Go To Travel Campaign discount, you will be entitled to receive compensation for your cancelled reservations if you fulfill the criteria set by the campaign office.

【Important】 Hosts are required to apply directly to the campaign office for compensation.
In accordance with the policies of the Go To Travel office, hosts must apply directly with the office to receive compensation for the reservations on Airbnb. Please note that Airbnb will not be able to apply for this compensation on your behalf. If you are eligible, you will receive an email from Airbnb directly to inform you.
※Please note that you may not have been able to receive the email due to system limitations. If you determine that you have a reservation that is eligible for compensation and have any questions, please contact our community support.

※This content is based on guidance as of January 8th about the application process due either Feb 1 or Feb 15. The application process for reservations between Jan 12 and Feb 1 require filling out a similar form, so please take this content as your reference.
※There may be changes or additions to the items required for application as anounced by the campaign office. Please make sure to check the latest information and contact the campaign office if you have any questions.

2. About the compensation
Cancellation of reservations caused by the "Temporary suspension of 5 cities until December 27" "Temporary suspension of New Year's holidays" ”Temporary suspension of nationwide reservations due to the state of emergency” will be eligible for compensation under the following conditions.

Cancellations caused by temporary suspension measures in 5 cities (Sapporo, Osaka, Tokyo, Nagoya, Hiroshima) until Dec. 27

  • You will receive a compensation amounting to 35% of the trip cost (up to 14,000 yen per person per night) regardless of whether or not there was a cancellation fee included by you.
  • Application period: January 18 to February 1, 24:00

Cancellations caused by the temporary suspension around the New Year holidays (12/28 - 1/11)

  • You will receive a compensation amounting to 50% of the trip cost (up to 20,000 yen per person per night) regardless of whether or not there was a cancellation fee included by you.
  • Application period: February 1 to February 15, 24:00

[NEW] Cancellations of nationwide reservations caused by the state of emergency (1/12-2/1)

  • You will receive a compensation amounting to 35% of the trip cost (up to 14,000 yen per person per night) regardless of whether or not there was a cancellation fee included by you.
  • Application period: February 16 to March 5, 24:00

※If the travel involves more than eight nights, the campaign itself and the application of compensation will be eligible for travel only up to seven nights. Please apply for compensation based on the trip fee for the period of stay up to 7 nights.
※Reservations that were booked by the same guest at the price without the Go To Travel discount after Airbnb had cancelled the reservation will not be eligible for compensation.
※If there is a suspicion of fraudulent receipt of benefits, the government may conduct an on-site inspection based on laws and regulations and publish the name of the business, or demand the return of the improperly received benefits.

3. Prepare the information required for application
The information required for your application can be found on the host dashboard, or in the email you received when your reservation was confirmed. However if you need to confirm the place of residence of the guest and their accompanying guests, or in some cases if there is a guest in the reservation aged 65 years and older or has an underlying medical condition, please contact the guest directly to confirm.

〜Correction〜
The Go To Travel Office announced on November 24, 2020 that compensation would be paid for cancellations of reservations with destinations to Osaka and Sapporo. Within the email which we have sent to applicable hosts on Jan 26 about the compensation, we have found that we included reservation codes that were booked on Nov 24 which are not eligible for compensation. Only reservations that were booked by Nov 23 are eligible for compensation under this measure. We apologize for informing you of a reservation code that is not eligible for compensation.
