Hello, fellow photography lovers. We will meet at the Old Arsenal in the center of the city and I will prepare some fun photo challenges which will enable you to look for things and compositions in a new way. We will start by climbing on The Hill of Three Crosses where you can take postcard type pictures of Vilnius. From the highest point of our journey we will then go down to explore Užupis Republic via side streets and paths. On the way we will be looking for street art and make some colorful, abstract type of pictures. I will give you some useful tips how to improve your compositions. During the midpoint of our walk we will sit down for a coffee and croissants in the best local bakery and I will give you some more advice and pointers about the art of photography which I learned through the years of practice. Refreshed we will continue to beautiful Old Town of Vilnius, discovering best spots to take panoramas of the city, looking for more colorful street art and actually making our own art. I will be your personal photo guide and at the end our our walk, if you follow my little photo challenge, you will walk away with your own unique album of Vilnius. Before we part, I will take a professional portrait of you and send you a fully retouched photograph for you to remember our trip.
I am a professional photographer from Vilnius, Lithuania, working in the field of architecture and interior design. I've started my photography journey almost 30 years ago as a teenager, so I remember well working my magic in the darkroom waiting for that elusive image to appear. In late 90's I've produced and hosted alternative music TV show and after that worked as a movie translator. But 7 years ago I turned back to photography again, this time professionally, and never regretted my decision, as it lets me to see new locations and meet interesting people. Now I've decided to share my knowledge of photography with people who come to visit my beloved Vilnius and show it from different perspectives. I also love street art, so on our walks we will be searching for the new pieces and creating our own abstract art from it.
The Old Arsenal building stands at the foot of the Gediminas Castle Hill. The Lithuanian National Museum is located here; which houses more than 4 thousand archaeological finds, that tell about both the history and the prehistory of the country. Atop one hill stands Gediminas Castle, and atop another- three crosses. This place is known to the residents of Vilnius as the Hill of Three Crosses, precisely because of the monument standing on it.
Please bring comfortable clothes and walking shoes as we will climb to the Hill of Three Crosses. And don't forget your camera :) It doesn't have to be professional, you can even use your phone, but I would like to share some tricks which are possible to do only with a camera.
