Because my area had a lot of gold, many civilizations as the Romans or the Hapsburg had fought and conquered the area. They lived and worked here so they bring their own cult, schools and religion as we do have now an old and multicultural historic center. Unfortunately or luckily my area still has a lot of gold, so recently a Canadian company came and bought 80% of the village and they had the plan to transform it in a huge open pit. There were huge street protests against it and the story became more spicy as these days the area was proposed to become an UNESCO site. My grandparents were gold miners but even so they didn't agreed with this destructive plan that the Canadians proposed for my area. So I have many stories to tell you and I do hope that I will manage in this 3h tour to walk you a little bit in the historic center and tell you about the history and the old goldsmiths stories. We will finish our tour by going up in one of the churches tower to admire the amazing view over the village.
Casa Petri Rosia Montana
I left my job in Cluj to come back in my homevillage and develop tourism. I started with transforming my grandparents historic house in a touristic accommodation, then to gather more knowledge about the rich history of my village and the places worth visiting and to obtain an certificate as a local tour guide. So let's discover the surroundings and the rich history of my home village, together.
Will start from the historic center, in the old miners market were you will find the history of the heritage buildings and how the gold market worked. Will go then on a easy walk via the Hungarian and then the German areas. Will visit a small photo museum and the Unitarian church and cemetery. At the end will go up in the church tower from where will have an amazing view over our village that was proposed to become an UNESCO site.
