The class will be a 90 minute interactive conversation. I will have 5 different varietals for you to try. We will talk about how each is made; Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Rose, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon. The wines may change. On a projector we will watch videos and look at pictures to enhance our understanding. I will ask you to bring in a couple of cheese options to show you how wine changes with food. We will also talk about food pairing and wine storage. We will analyse a menu or flight as is called in a tasting room. How to read it and how much wine you will be tasting. What the cost is and the benefits of joining a wine club. Information on shipping wine to your home. We will discuss how barrels are made and how they make a significant difference to the taste of the wine. How does one bottle of wine turn into vinegar and another just get better with age? All in all, I will condense years of questions that I have had, in regard to all things wine and discuss it with you in an easy format in the class. Please understand that this is NOT a serious class, it will be fun and interactive and I will try my hardest to answer all your questions. I would recommend this class to any age group from young adults to someone who has always loved wine BUT was too afraid to ask. You will be able to figure out what varietal you enjoy and how to order it at a restaurant.
I am a Wine Educator working currently in Sonoma County at a small winery specializing in cool climate Chardonnay & Pinot Noir that can age 20-30 years. For 2 years I worked at a big Cabernet House in Napa where I hosted large groups and one on one library tastings. I am continuously increasing my wine knowledge. I absolutely enjoy being a Sonoma County Ambassador as well. I am studying toward WSET Diploma and becoming a Certified Sommelier. At this point I have passed the tasting portion of the Advanced Level 3 WSET ( Wine and Spirits Education Trust), and am waiting for results for the theory portion. Taking the level 1 Sommelier course in September, and Certified Sommelier exam shortly after. I have recently started a class which will teach you the basics of wine Tasting & wine Etiquette. You will walk away feeling super confident
Each guest will have 5 glasses in front of them and each glass will have one ounce of wine in it. The wines may change but…
