We'll meet at the bus station in Nowy Targ and then we'll take a local bus to northern part of town where we'll begin our trek. It's about 7 km long so make sure you have very comfortable sports shoes. Also, don't forget to take warm clothes as it's always colder in the mountains! On your way you'll enjoy great views (you can see the Tatra mountains in good weather) and you'll see traditional mountain cabins and beautiful nature. I'll also tell you a bit about the national park and the shelter. Once we reach the top of the mountain, we'll have an hour break at Turbacz mountain shelter where you'll enjoy our finger-licking delicious regional food! Then we'll hike back to town. The whole trip will take around 5 hours.
I'm a teacher with passion for travelling and hiking in the mountains. I live in a town that is situated in a valley beneath the Gorce Mountains featuring Gorce National Park. The mountains are much less touristy than the Tatras but also very beautiful! My favourite place there is Turbacz - the highest peak. It takes about 1.5-2 hours to get to the top. There is also a very good mountain shelter with finger-licking delicious regional food! I've been hiking there regularly for years so I know the area very well!
On our way to Turbacz, we'll stop at the famous Papal Chapel from 1979. When we reach the top, we'll spend a few minutes there to take some photos. After that, there we'll have an hour break at the mountain shelter where we'll have delicious regional mountain-style lunch.
Comfortable sports or hiking shoes
The whole hike is around 13 km long (round trip) and the elevation gain is about 600 meters. The hike rather easy and there are no technical difficulties on the trail.
