If you are thinking of living off the grid or in a tiny house, this tour will be filled with information to get you started! On your two-hour tour Cameron will explain everything from buying land to building a tiny house. This will include a tour of our main tiny house and the systems that support it such as rain water harvesting, PV use, composting and firewood processing. The tour will also include Rachael's tiny art studio, Cameron’s self-made solar electric vehicle and plenty of time to ask questions over local beverages and a cheese tray on our deck which overlooks the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.
Cameron and Rachael Van Dyke have been living off the grid for two and a half years exploring what it means to live in a better relationship with the natural world. Their six acre homestead includes two self-built tiny houses, a photovoltaic solar system, rain water harvesting and composting system. Individually each of them has their own art and design practice. Cameron opened a studio in 1996 and designs and fabricates both self-generated and commissioned furniture and public objects and is currently an Assistant Professor of Industrial Design at Appalachian State University. Rachael is a professional landscape artist represented by multiple galleries. www.thefuturepeople.us
