Depending upon what time of day you would like to visit, your four-hour farm stay will involve everything from mixing feed and delivering it to pigs in their fields, going on a feed run, helping deliver piglets (not highly likely but a possibility!), building farm needs, cleaning the barns, fixing fences, and enjoying the beauty of our 140-year old century farm. Every experience will include extensive walking, some mud and manure, getting your hands dirty, and physical work unless you prefer to just walk and talk.
Catering to the niche market for clean, natural foods, I have been breeding, raising and processing pasture-raised meats since 2011. We currently raise about 75 pigs on green pasture and locally-sourced feeds. The result is a zero- to negative carbon footprint on delectable pork, and a close connection to the local farming and residential communities. Our pigs are born, raised and ultimately sold here on the farm, offering a unique opportunity to get a glimpse of what happens when meat animals are raised at a sustainable, artisanal level instead of mass-produced in confinement operations.
You will be here on Stone Horse Farm surrounded by our pastures and woods. And pigs! Big, lovely, heritage breed pigs. Any outings would include either our local feed mill for locally grown grain, or Ontario's last family-owned butter creamery to obtain buttermilk (pig candy). The farm includes hands-on work mixing these parts into a balanced feed for the animals, gathering eggs in our hen house, and experiencing the seasonal changes.

We do not come in direct contact with the pigs unless you wish to pet one of the tame animals. Piglets are with their very protective mothers, so we cannot take them out for photos. Bio-security measures are taken to ensure pigs will not contract any diseases from visitors.
