We would start with a trip to the local market to buy fruits and vegetables for cooking. We then go home where I can teach you how to make some of the dishes which we will have for lunch. A special gift awaits you if you learn and can make a good chapati :-). I'll have to have made some of the dishes earlier due to the time it takes to cook them but I will walk you through the process of making them so you can try them when you go home. Thereafter we will have lunch together and get to know each other as we break bread together.
I am a retired Kenyan mum who has always enjoyed cooking because of how food brings people together plus in my culture, cooking was one of the ways we socialised. I would love to give this African food experience and share some of my recipes with you. I cook a wide range of Kenyan dishes and can accommodate both meat lovers and vegetarians. Also included is a tour to the local fruit and vegetable kiosks, where I'll teach you the way to negotiate for supplies, Kenyan style.
We will visit the local open-air market for shopping. We will use local transport called matatu (means three because it used to cost 3 cents back in the day) to and from the market to the house.
The food is quite filling so come hungry. Lunch will not be served when you arrive since we will start with the market visit and cooking classes beforehand. Expect to eat later though we will have some bitings. In case of anything please give me a call on +254722803020.
