We do a very beautiful and pleasant hiking tour, located on the southern edge of the Vienna Woods on the old Via Sacra pilgrim path. Since this hike is following mostly panoramic trails, we will enjoy truly amazing views throughout the hike. The landscape is very idyllic with little farms, orchards, cows and horses. It resembles a bit "the Shire" of Lord of the Rings, so if we are lucky we might have an encounter with the Hobbits :) This hike is considered easy and anyone with an average fitness level should be able to master it. Hiking time is approx. 3 hours. Distance: 12 km. Commuting time from the meeting point in Vienna is 30 minutes (one way). This hike is ideal for anyone who wants to explore the near countryside of Vienna, get out of the city, enjoy truly amazing views, inhale fresh air and enjoy some peace and quiet. Moreover, it is easy to walk and the scenery is absolutely lovely. It is especially recommended in spring or autumn. The light is special and we can admire either the first spring flowers or the splendor of colours of the trees in autumn. If you cannot find your preferred date in the calendar please contact me for further options or have a look at my other beautiful hiking tours such as Wachau valley, Grand Canyon of Austria and many more.
I'm the founder of Das Leben spüren - Embrace Life, a company organizing guided hiking tours and excursions for travellers, expats and locals. Already before that, I was organizing similar trips on a voluntary basis for a global expat network. I am also a professional hiking guide and have a master in tourism & leisure management. I love meeting people from all over the world as much as I love nature. Combining both and showing foreigners the natural beauties of my home country is what I enjoy most.
Get to know the beautiful countryside near Vienna during a pleasant, easy circular hike. It is located on the southern edge of the Vienna Woods on the old Via Sacra pilgrim path. We hike along easy forest paths that meander gently through the hills, forests and pastures. In the distance we see the peaks of the surrounding mountain ranges. The landscape resembles a bit "the Shire" of Lord of the Rings. Maybe we meet some Hobbits?
Please bring enough to drink, some snacks (no possibility to buy food along the trail), sun and rain protection as well as personal medication. Sturdy shoes with a good grip are recommended (sneakers will be ok for this tour, the trail is mostly paved). Thank you for being on time!
