體驗簡介
We will take an alley walk in a genuine graffiti "yard." We'll view walls decorated with graffiti and develop an understanding of the difference between street art, modern graffiti and gang writing, as well as the history of each in LA. By the end of our walk, we'll be able to recognize the differences between the four main forms of modern graffiti and understand its visual vocabulary, a skillset that any contemporary city dweller will find useful.
Other things to note
Dress for the sun: hat, long sleeve shirt, perhaps sunblock. Wear sturdy shoes (not sandals). Feel free to inquire about alternative meeting dates and times including Saturday!

We'll meet at Holy Grounds Coffee and Tea to have coffee and talk, then proceed to El Serreno along the railroad tracks to see and discuss the many walls painted in different styles. This is exactly the kind of out-of-the-way industrial place that graffiti writers love to beautify!

Steve was the absolute best! Gave us some context of graffiti overall, how LA influenced it and how it's changed over the years. Some might find the area of neighborhood we end up walking intimidating. It's next to the railroad tracks, you see broken down cars, trailers, trash, etc, but honestly it fine. Being the middle of the day on the weekend felt safe. Only people out there were doing graffiti or walking their dogs. I highly recommend like he suggests that you bring a hat and good shoes. It's easy to get sunburned while you out and about. The coffeeshop where we meet is a good place to rest at the end of the walk.

This experience was awesome! Steve’s knowledge and passion was evident throughout the day. We learned so much! It is all so beautiful. The artists have amazing talent and you can feel their emotion come through the walls, train cars, etc. You could tell Steve is welcome in the community. An artist walked up to him, introduced himself and engaged in conversation. Thank you Steve for sharing your passion, your knowledge and your life experiences! We have told everyone about our special afternoon with you.

Great tour guide and location. You learn about the history of LA graffiti and the current scene while developing an appreciation of technique. I'm a local, and I saw a net (to me) area of the city and learned a lot. I'm excited to keep my eyes out for other pieces by the crews and artists I saw on the tour.

This was an excellent tour. Recommend to those who usually love contemporary or modern art but, may be curious about the growing acceptance of urban street art. Steve is very engaging, passionate and well informed about the different styles, etiquette and language used by the young men ( and women) called 'crews' who create these amazing walls, GRAFFITI.
