You will choose a silver jewellery making activity and a date that suits you and your group (max 4). Once you have parked up and found the boat, the day will start promptly with some simple wire jewellery making to get you used to the tools and working on the boat. You will initially work in copper, and learn to use tools to measure, cut, shape, join and finish metal. With our small group numbers, you will closely guided through these processes to ensure your success. We will stop for tea/ coffee and a slice of cake, and discuss your silver making activity. You might use the surroundings of the canal to inspire your creation, or maybe the abundant history of the UK. Then as the day progresses you will be expertly guided through your chosen making activity. You will enjoy the cosy and convivial atmosphere of the narrowboat, while through the window you will witness wildlife and nature, other boats passing by, and the industrial history of the British canal system. After a break for lunch, your silver jewellery will be carefully finished and polished. I try to finish at 3pm but often run over to ensure your silver jewellery is completed to satisfaction (see my reviews on Craftcourses.com). Then it's time to say goodbye - you will take your completed silver jewellery with you - having the satisfaction of making it yourself and wearing it with pride!
I've worked in engineering and education for many years. I now teach small groups of people silver jewellery making skills on board my floating workshop - The Silver Jewellery Boat - a 60ft narrowboat moored alongside the beautiful Worcestershire canals. My one day courses are carefully designed for complete beginners or those looking to improve their skills. My main aim is for guests to have a great day out - my boat is comfortable and welcoming. I always work hard to ensure students are introduced to the thrills of this fantastic material, and are introduced to the necessary new skills progressively and enjoy silver jewellery making success.
Light refreshments - drinks and cake. Dietary needs catered for when informed.
All materials and instruction are included in the price.
We will spend your experience on board my 60ft steel narrowboat. She is a very well appointed and comfortable "live aboard" with a kitchen and bathroom. She also has a carefully designed, and fully functioning silver jewellery workshop with space for 4 students (5 at a squeeze). The boat will be tied securely throughout the class, and in the colder months the log burner keeps us warm.
最多可供5位年滿16歲的旅人參加。 Suitable clothing and footwear for working in an environment that features moving machinery and hot metal.
你需要提供一張與你身份證明文件上的相片相符之相片。 以便Airbnb確認是次體驗的參加者。 你只需進行此步驟一次。
Jewellery making is so very satisfying and wonderful for your self esteem - although bear in mind that hands will get dirty and loose clothing/ long hair most be kept out of the way. The boat is very cosy and compact - it's called a narrowboat for a good reason. Entry is down 3 steps.
