We’ll start with an overview of what happens in the vineyard, production styles, geography, and legislature regarding Italian wine. After a general knowledge is established about Italian wine, we will teach you how to properly taste a glass of wine. We will move from the visual assessment, to the olfactory, and last, the tasting. We will taste four Italian wines from different regions all over Italy, comparing and contrasting what is in the glass, and drawing conclusions about the climate, wine production styles, grape varieties, and all the other factors that influence a glass of wine! By the end of the class you will have a great understanding of Italian wine. Our goal is to make our wine class approachable to all skill levels and to take the intimidation out of discussing wine. We will talk like friends and not make you feel uncomfortable for any questions! We try to take the snob out of wine. This is a perfect class for those traveling to Italy who would like to have some pre-knowledge or for those who are interested in expanding their knowledge about Italian wine and culture with two experts.
Buongiorno! My husband and I are both Certified 3rd Level Sommeliers with 2nd and 3rd Level certification through WSET. We are specialized in Italian wine and studied to be Sommeliers in Milan, Italy. Apart from wine, I have a passion for Italian language and culture and have a degree in Italian from SFSU. Marco, my husband, is a Tuscan born Italian with a huge pride for Italian wine. I met him in Italy and studied wine alongside him while toasting our studies with many glasses of Chianti. We have connections with producers in Tuscany and have a vast knowledge of Italian wine and culture. We love sharing our passion and knowledge with anyone who is interested in learning more about one of the best wine producing countries in the world, Italia.
