Langa is centrally located 13km from the Cape Town city centre. the tour begins at Ikhaya LeLanga, a social enterprise development centre run by Langa citizens where we will have a short meet and greet as well as a short introductory talk about Langa quarter over coffee, from there we will make our way to Guga S'thebe where we will meet local artists and possible have drumming session followed by the Dompass Museum where we can take advantage of the cultural space and museum. We then walk to 16 lerotholi Gallery that showcase local art then followed by Beer Hall which will explore the history of beer halls in South Africa as well as a tasting for traditional beer. We discuss the housing in KwaLanga and what it reflects about the history of housing and the current housing situation for many South Africans. We then visit local entrepreneurs Hub which showcases the work of Denim movement and their involvement in the community. This is followed by a walk to the Protest monument which marks the women's march against passbooks in 1960. We meet another local entrepreneur who helps the community through a gardening project. We end our tour with an optional home-cooked meal at Nande's Kitchen a local spot that presents an opportunity to try local cuisine.
