We will pick you up from Zagarolo Train Station, which is very easy to reach from central Rome, and we will reach our beautiful winery. We will start the first part of the cooking class by making the local ragù sauce (it takes time and love to cook it!). After an aperitivo with our sparkling wine and local cheese under the vine-covered pergola, we will make the handmade pasta. After that, we will tour the vineyard and the underground volcanic tuff wine cellar which is more than a century year old! At the end, we will enjoy lunch all together with the freshly made "tagliatelle al ragù locale" and the local wine cookies as dessert, all paired with our different kinds of wine.
My family and I, Nicoletta, have been making wine for six generations. I am a sommelier, taster and most importantly a wine lover, and I can’t wait to show you my vineyards and share our wine-making story with you. My friend and co-host Vittorio is the cantina's Chef. He started cooking with his mother and father since he was a little child and made it his profession. Always looking for quality and sustainability, he decided to share his passion and traditions with people who love food and nature as much as he does.
We will have a selection of local cheese for aperitivo, then freshly made tagliatelle (egg pasta) with local ragù sauce…
Car transport from Zagarolo Train Station (easly reachable from the center of Rome) to the winery.
The ancient farmhouse was built in 1881 by my ancestors together with the underground cellar which was used to preserve the wine during summertime. We will visit the most interesting parts of our four and a half hectares of land, including the 150 year old vines, the old cherry tree and of course the 20 meter deep underground cellar dug by my ancestors in volcanic tuff. The cooking class will take place inside the farmhouse.
