To start you’ll be welcomed in my home kitchen located in the heart of an artistic neighborhood, Bushwick. We will sit down, drink tea, talk about the history of the kimchi, its science, ingredients, basic rules, tips and tricks, etc. Then we will have a fun full hands-on session! You’ll make 2 types of kimchi (napa cabbage/seasonal vegetable) and will take them home. At the end of the class, we will sit down and have a simple yet delicious Korean family-style meal together and taste the kimchi you made. I hope to deliver the knowledge and joy of making kimchi and by the end of the class, you’d be more confident to make kimchi with a limited source of Korean food products anywhere you travel.
I first came to Brooklyn a few years ago from Korea, to start a new chapter of my life with my husband James. In response to my longing for family and friends, I started making kimchi. After trials and errors, I was able to develop my ways to make it delicious and resonate with original flavors from Seoul. While then I started working at a professional kitchen in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Thankfully I’ve had the honor to teach co-workers how to make kimchi and sell the kimchi we made using my recipe. Now I’d like to share my knowledge and love for making kimchi with you. We will make kimchi together and also sit down and have a Korean style family meal at the end of the class. I’d like to pass on the knowledge and joy of making kimchi anywhere you go with a limited source of Korean food products by sharing basic rules of making kimchi.
