If you could see the italian food culture from an Italian standpoint, you would see that it is even more rich and variegated than it's wordly known. Every little village has their interpretation of the most famous recipes, and all the most traditional families have their own recipes too. My family makes no exception. In this experience I will teach you how to make my grandma's ravioli from scratch. We will be making the filling, the dough and the sauce as she does. I will also teach you the differences between these ravioli and the more classic ones, and give you a few variants of fillings and sauces that you will be able to try home. After the ravioli are made I will show you how to preserve them so that you can eat your own homemade ravioli every time you want! Last but not least, we will have a lunch together with the just made ravioli! If the weather permits it, we could eat in the patio with a scenic view of the sea. Otherwise we will eat in the living room of the house where my grandma used to live.
My family has a really long history in Ranzi, a tiny village in the hills blasted with an astonishing sea view. If I'd tell you more about my ancestors you'll be surprised about how stereotypical my family is. My grandma, now 92, spent most of her life cooking and perfectioning the traditional Ranzi's recipes and, just in recent years, passing the knowledge along. As my father and his father before him, I like to innovate, to be "up with the times"... And yet, as them, I couldn't resist to the fashion of the traditional italian food. I liked cooking since I was little, and I'm really happy I had the chance to learn my grandma's ravioli recipe directly from her. I'm especially attached to this recipe as I used to eat it since I was an infant... To me it taste like nothing but home.
I'll provide all the tools needed for the creation of the ravioli
The experience will take place in the house where my grandma used to live, witch, after nearly 100 years witnessing all kinds of family events, from child births to crazy young people's parties, is now just waiting to be demolished to give room for a world class resort. You will be able to enjoy the view from the patio and have a glance of how people used to live here just a few generations ago.
