Have you already been in Venice? Have you already seen St Mark's square and Rialto? Would you love to stay in quiet areas? During this 2 hours walking tour, I'll take you through the district of Dorsoduro, one of the most quintessential "venetian" areas, far from the beaten tracks, a place where you can meet locals, students and fall in love with this city and its magic. We'll walk in this district, starting the tour in Piazzale Roma, the bus station, between the port (15 minutes on foot) and the railway station. You'll see the Canal Grande, but you won't cross it. Along the way, you'll see important churches, beautiful palaces, charming squares, where you'll feel the vibes of this city. Dorsoduro is a district where you can experience the authentic Venice. During our prom, I'll talk to you about the history of the city, the monuments we'll see, but also about everyday life. Feel free to ask whatever you are curious about. It's going to be relaxing and interesting and the same time, a slow tour to taste a bit of Venice. The tour is a circular one and it will finish in Piazzale Roma, the meeting point. For private groups, different conditions and a pick up at the PORT can be agreed (I have the permission to get inside the Port area and to meet you in front of the terminal; further info upon request).
Hi! I am Ilaria and I am a tour leader and tour guide. I’ve always loved getting in contact with other cultures and travelling: that’s why I’ve studied foreign languages and I decided to work in the field of tourism, first abroad and in Italy then. Some years ago I decided to "come back home" and I started to work as tour guide in Venice and in my beloved Treviso. After I started this career, I learned so many interesting information and details and I can't look at these cities the way I used to do before. Venice is a particular world, unique and charming, full of surprises. I would feel honoured to introduce you to it!
We'll remain always in Dorsoduro district: we'll stop in campo San Nicolo dei Mendicoli ("beggars"), by the beloved church, built by poor inhabitants and fishermen; walking along canals, I'll take you to San Barnaba, a picturesque square with the famous bridge "of the punches" and other funny tales; then we'll go to Santa Margherita, the favourite place of students and young people. On the way, you'll have to hunt for Banksi's murales!
Venice is an archipelago, you need to walk to get everywhere. We'll take our time, I am sure you'll love what you'll see and hear, so you won't notice the efforts, but the city is big and stairs can't be avoided during this tour (minimum 3 km).
