A hike for everyone!!! Just minutes away from the bustle and buzz of citycenter unfolds a nature, culture and history for lover’s paradise. We will explore Bygdøy together. Bygdøy is a peninsula located on the west side of the city centre - spectacular scenery combined with a very typical and traditional residential area mixed with modern life - filled with lot of culture, tradition and history. Here you find wooden cottages and you get a real insight of how people live in Norway. We will amble through fantastic hiking trails, fields and forest. Certain places you will find roaming cows, sheep and goats. We will pass by the museums, beaches and discover Bygdøys oldest building and m.m. Maybe we meet som famous Norwegian people on our way. I also have some surprises during the hike.
The hike takes around 2,5 hours.
After we have hiked through the island, I will invite you to my traditional Norwegian home and teach you how to make Norwegian ‘Vaffels’ at my place. I will reveale you the secret for making the best vaffels in a heartshape. Together we will prepare a drink or coffee, we may relax on the veranda admiring the view of locals, neighbourhood and the fjord.

This hike is for all ages and works for most physical conditions. Please confirm your fitness condition and if you have any health issue. Bring good spirit, flexibility and positive attitude.

Hi, I am Sandra. I will be your guide. A Colombian/Norwegian woman, raised in Norway. I have worked 30 years in the travel industry. I also worked as regional 'head of tourism' for a national park and UNESCO resort. My passion is Norwegian culture, tradition, history, scenery, art and way of living. Highlights: We will start our walk alongside an unknown trail for tourists passing by one the Kings property. The property reminds me of Robin Hood. Sæterhytten på Dronningberget - is Oslo’s hidden treasure, a summer farmhouse (1862) placed on top of a mountain hill. We will pass by Bygdøy’s oldest house, visit the inner garden. Visit a residential area for a close-up of the lighthouse and modern life. Spot different Rich and famous properites.
A simple hike in Bygdoy.
On that day the weather was beautiful so the hike was quite enjoyable. It would be different if it rained as there are no shelters enroute .
The only setback was that because the group had to wait for 3 persons who did not turn up eventually. As a result the hike was delayed by half an hour and the route had to be changed and we did not have enough time to learn how to make the waffles and drink coffee as given in the programme because a couple had to catch a flight at Oslo Airport whilst I had to run to another appointment.
In future the hike should start on time otherwise there will be waiting which is not fair to the other participants who are punctual
