The common thread to this experience will be the olive tree and his exquisite oil, known as Extra Virgin Olive Oil (AOVE) Guests will be received with a glass of white wine or a Vermouth. To pair this drink we will be presenting 3 types of olive oils made in 3 areas of the Iberian peninsula, Catalunya, Andalucía and Portugal. The olive oil tasting will served with the specific olive so people can have a better understanding and 3 types of organic bread to taste the oil. This part will help you haver a better comprehension of olive oil, how to differentiate them and how to buy a good olive oil. We will move on to preparing the "pan con tomate", the staple of catalan food, which you will be able to add anchovies, mojama, manchego and fuet. At the same time we will prepare a classic tomatoe salad. For all these tapas, you will be able to pair it with your personal choice of the available olive oils.
I´m the founder of El Port de la Cala, a restaurant located in the smallest port of the Costa Brava, where I specialized in traditional recipes and local fauna. Together with Ibon, the founder of Olivares Series, who bought a house in Delta del Ebre, where he had olive trees, and started making his own olive oil. Years later he turned it into a brand dedicated to create Extra Virgin Olive Oil with biodynamic methods. He will be sharing his knowledge from farming to the table.
The entire experience will take place in our kitchen loft in Poblenou. We have a cozy rooftop equipped with furniture.
