體驗簡介
Down the garden path, surrounded by lush greenery and mountain views leads the way to my working studio space. Here you will be exposed to the wonders of making things from clay and turning them into a permanent ceramic objects.
You will be shown and have the opportunity to handle numerous examples of ceramic / pottery pieces learning about the processes used in making these pieces.
You can choose from a menu of achievable hand-building projects that will allow you to explore artistic and practical creative expression using the clay medium.
I will teach you the fundamentals of hand-building guiding you through the process of creating your own piece / pieces. Depending on your choice of project you learn techniques such as using coils, extruding, pinching, slabs and moulds for example, as well as the option of creating surface decoration using handmade stamps, fabrics and natural textures such as leaves and she-oaks.
This experience is a unique opportunity to spend four gloriously relaxing and highly informative hours immersed in an artists studio space. Exploring your own creativity through making objects from clay, I will ignite a passion for pottery within you.
Other things to note
Warburton is 1.5 hours by car and just over 2 hours by public transport from Melbourne.
If you are looking for accommodation my rooms are listed on AirBnB under 'Spacious Home with Mountain Views' .

I have been making and teaching for over twenty years. I gained a fine art honours degree in the UK before completing my professional teaching qualification and moving to Australia.
My dreams of living in the countryside and having a proper studio space, finally came true after moving to Warburton in late 2016. Once a dingy spider filled old shed, I have turned this space into a bright clean and organised art studio where I blissfully spend my time playing with clay creating ceramics and teaching my passion to others. I look forward to sharing my little piece of pottery paradise with you.

This was my first time doing pottery and I loved it. Helen did an amazing job of making the class tailored to your preferences and abilities so you would have something beautiful at the end. Although she was busy that day, she was patient and generous enough to give me a little more time of her day so I could finish my “Monster” :b

I did a pottery class with Helen recently and found it very enjoyable. She took such an interest in my creative ideas leading up to the class and was so helpful and encouraging on the day. She was very kind and welcoming and attentive to my needs. As a result, I was able to relax and fully immerse myself in creating a unique piece, and tap into some skills I hadn't used for years. I would highly recommend Helen to anyone wishing for a fun and enjoyable experience creating pottery pieces, no matter the level of experience with clay.

My partner and I did a class while staying at Helen's air bnb, and she was so knowledgable and patient with us pottery novices. As well as bringing home beautiful permanent objects, we've brought home an understanding and appreciation of the time and care that goes into handmade ceramic pieces. She has endless pictures for inspiration on her Instagram and in books around the house. She was so good at providing direction to help make our half-baked ideas a reality, but also stepped back and encouraged us to make the pieces individual. Her beautiful studio is full of tools and example pieces and moulds and different types of clay - everything you need and more! We had a lovely personalised session for two but it would be big enough for more. Cannot wait to come back for a glazing session!

The ceramics class with Helen was an extremely enjoyable 4 hours of creativity, laughs and a few warm cups of tea. Helen was very flexible when it came to deciding what we would make with the clay. Having spent the previous day researching different mugs, bowls and plates, Helen was amazing at helping us create those crazy ideas in our head.
Overall, the experience was a hell of a lot of fun and we can't wait to come back to finish off our little creations.

Outstanding. Memory of a life time.
Helen - my heart goes out to you with gratitude and love. You are such a blessing. So I sought out Helen because I just wanted to explore this curiosity to see what pottery would be like. I've noticed that I'm practical and creative with my hands - I noticed that from all the baking and cooking i was doing... - so I thought I'd explore it. But Helen exceeded my expectations. I was blessed in that it was just the two of us. So she packed as much wisdom into the 4 hours we had (5 actually.. we got carried away talking about life), but she is so so experienced with over 20 years in art, pottery, photography... she even taught me the science and overview of the different styles of pottery. It was fascinating. So in the time we had, I built basic shapes including a cup, bowl - to get the feel of using my heart and not thinking with the mind. Then we built this incredible vase together. I could stayed there for days - it was like my little happy place. Helen has put so much thought and passion into turning this into a unique tailored experience. I'm so grateful. I'll be back soon to paint my vase.
If you're after a creative outlet in the wilderness that's supported by a creative Yoda, Helen's your girl.
Thankyou so much Helen.
