On your arrival, my wife Maria and I will greet you with a tasty aperitivo to introduce the local flavours and a refreshing glass of our local Spumante. In the kitchen we'll teach you how to make two local types of pasta, chitarra and tagliolini that you'll be able to easily recreate at home and 2 seasonal sauces to dress the pasta with. Depending on your preferences we will in addition either make either a local meat dish or a vegetarian dish. If guests would like to we can arrange an extended visit with a tour to my cousin the local butcher and learn how to make sausages. We'll eat together down on the terrace that looks out over Monte Marrone. We use a basket on a rope to transport the food between the floors! Food will be paired with local organic wine from Prezza.
Hi, I am Ezio and I have been a professional Italian American chef for the last 50 years in Boston and most recently in Rhode Island under the guise of Italy on a Plate in the USA. I grew up in Abruzzo, the small beautiful small town of Prezza that overlooks the Peligna Valley and is nicknamed the balcony of Abruzzo. I went to school in Sulmona home of the world famous confetti (Sugared almonds). I emigrated to Boston when I was 18 but each year I return to my family’s house from June to September where I love to go to the market in Sumona and recreate the traditional dishes that my mother and grandmother did so effortlessly from the kitchen. Abruzzese cuisine is about buying local and its history lays in cucina povera which means it's not just affordable but healthy when you recreate the dishes at home. It’s tasty and diverse being

We'll be using the family kitchen that was comandered by the German Army to cook for their troops during the 2nd World War. For after lunch coffee we'd love to take you down to our local pizza to sit by the fountain and have an ice-cream.
