This sessions is for people new to oil painting. We will start by priming our canvas, blending the sky and water. Then we will understand the use of the palette knife as we cut in mountains, We will also be undertaking the importance of mixing colors and preparing the brush with the proper amount of paint. Making bushes with the fan brush and etching in trees and branches with a detail brush and much more. This one lesson will open your eyes on how to paint just about anything by layering. Because this is oil and not water based paint so soon realize how blending becomes second nature.
I have been an active musician all my life and was always curious about oil painting. It always seemed to look so much better than acrylic. It is so rewarding to paint something that you are actually proud of! As a musician and songwriter, graphic artist and professional photographer, oil painting seemed to fit in well with my sense of curiosity. I have displayed my paintings at many local shows. I am an active member of WAAC (Willmar Area Arts Council). I have recently constructed a building, Curiosity Cabin, just for arts and music on Diamond Lake.
We provide canvas, brushes and paints. Please wear appropriate clothing.
We will be conducting the oil paint workshop in the newly constructed Curiosity Cabin. A mecca of creativity!. The ceiling, the floor the walls, everything is creative here. This room also contains many musical instruments.
