體驗簡介
Carlos will take you through the ins and outs of the coffee world. He'll teach you about his passion and why he decided to open his own coffee roasting company.
You'll learn about the origin of coffee, the types of plants, roasting, methods of extraction and grind. You will also get to know different types of equipment, getting to know the pros and cons of each, and what brewing method suits you best.
Most importantly, Carlos will teach you how to prepare and brew a great cup of coffee, and everything that this involves.
Harmonisation is also a big thing in gastronomy so we'll play around with flavours and match coffee with other interesting tastes - chocolate, Port wine and homemade pastry!
You'll be tasting:
- Espresso Booínga Blend (w/ sider of 70% cocoa black chocolate with salt flower) - Cappuccino option
- V60 Ethiopia Yrgacheffe Single Origin (w/ local homemade corn biscuit)
- Moccamaster Filtered Coffee Costa Rica Single Origin (w/ homemade almond biscuit and Douro Moscatel Wine 10 years)
- Cascara (an incredible coffee infusion!)
You'll be taking home:
- Booínga Mug
- 70g Booínga Blend
- Annobon chocolate 70% cocoa with salt flower
- Casa de Penalva Infusion
Other things to note
Transport to and from the location should be arranged by guests.

I am an Civil Engineer that fell in love with the coffee world upon early retirement. I come from a Portuguese family that was born in Africa (Angola), and have already lived in Moçambique, São Tomé and Principe and Brasil.
With courses from the Speciality Coffee Association (SCA), I have certifications in green coffee, sensorial analysis, brewing, barista and roasting. All of this passion culminated in me founding Booínga - Oporto Coffee Roasters.
I am also a Surfing aficionado!

Your experience will take place in the Booínga - Oporto Coffee Roaster's coffeeshop - sometimes its more like a science lab really. With Carlos' engineering background, the coffee art meets precision.
The location is in Matosinhos - right near the sea - where there are a lot of other interesting activities to do.
Carlos is an old school longboarder so if you like surfing be sure to ask him for advice!

If you're into coffee, then you'll really appreciate how Carlos takes you through the entire journey from coffee agriculture all the way to brewing and tasting. His passion is evident, and he shares it with so much knowledge and experience that is down to earth and so interesting. Best thing is, his passion translates into fantastic coffee and coffee-inspired beverages. My wife and I already love our espresso-based milk coffees (we're from Melbourne, Australia), but have never experienced espresso shots we liked. That is until Carlos pulled 2 different shots for us - and boy he delivered. We now know what excellent, well balanced delicious espresso tastes like, and what to aim for when brewing at home. All the other cups were just as fantastically balanced, and we felt very spoilt with all the different beans and coffee-related beverages we got to try. I cannot recommend this experience highly enough!

If you are a coffee enthusiast or even a home barista/brewer and interested in this experience, just BOOK IT! It was one of the best coffee learning experiences me and my partner have ever done, and we have done a few. Carlos clearly cares deeply about his craft and is passion and expertise shine through. He was very friendly and open, and shared so much insight with us, we even ended up going over time! Haha. Everything e tried was beautifully balanced, even the home made cookies and the delicious muscatel. Such amazing value as well, given you learn and taste so much, AND get a goodie bag at the end with mugs, coffee beans and tea. We really enjoyed Carlos's company and highly recommend this experience.
