We are going to walk a lot around the core of this amazing neighborhood and get to know the history and traditions of many of the most famous places such as the San Juan Church, the neighborhood market and the Coyote plaza, but we will aso visit less turisty spots like local churro spots and picturesque streets. There is lot's to see here, don't be fooled, not everything is about Frida Kahlo! During the tour we will talk about artists, migration, the conquest, religion, handicrafts, symbols, how the cobbled-stoned village of Coyoacán got swallowed up by the city, architecture, colonial life, and even the USSR! All of these have had a huge influence in making Coyoacán one of the loveliest and most quintessential neighborhoods in this huge city. At the beginning of the tour we'll get some coffee to get our energies up and we'll finish up with some extraordinary market food.
History has always been my passion and I studied it in university, so I'm also a nerd in that area. I love linking the architecture and current traditions with the history that made the streets, the food, the art and the places the way they are. Also, I love meeting people and traveling! So when I can't go somewhere else, I like to explore my own town and walk the city with local friends or foreigners, Coyoacán is my to-go place to chill in my own city, drink coffee, tea or get a beer. I love hosting and teaching different kinds of groups, be it couples, families, friends or any other. I speak three languages and I have been a high-school teacher, I also have worked with children and elders, so I can explain everything easily and adapt the tour to the wants and needs of the group.
Two delicious tostadas of the famous market stall.
One coffee to start and a fabulous agua fresca (fruit water) with your tostadas.
Three markets, three churches, three parks, and many, many beautiful streets and historic places. We won't go to the Frida Kahlo Museum, but you can visit it after the tour (make sure to get your tickets in advance) or choose among our many other recommendations!
