We will discover the secret world of the honeybee by delving into real active beehives. We will get up close and personal, handle the bees, and try to introduce ourselves to her majesty the queen bee. First, we'll cover the basics of beekeeping, and then we get our kit on and make our way to the colonies. Following our hands-on experience, we will then get to taste a variety of super tasty award-winning honey from our beehives across London. Everyone gets a goody bag to take home with them, too.

Please be sure to wear appropriate clothing—long trousers and boots are needed. No open toe shoes, shorts, dresses, or skirts.

As one of the founders of the London Bee Company, I am passionate about bees and all the amazing things they do and produce. As a result, a lot of my time, work, and energy is devoted to the welfare of our bees, which helped us achieve a 3-star Great Taste Award in 2017.
I also work with over 300 beekeepers in East Africa (Kenya, South Sudan, Congo, Uganda, and Tanzania), helping them develop their beekeeping income through value added products and market access, as well as providing training on low cost beeswax production.

We'll be tucked away in the borough of Richmond, and we will walk through the backstreets of Strawberry Hill into a 23-acre hidden oasis where our bees live on an organically managed pesticide-free piece of land. It's a peaceful area surrounded by the hustle and bustle of everyday London life.
Sameer is passionate, knowledgeable and a very able personable host. The experience was beyond our expectations! The session was very well structured, we got a through explanation of a typical colony, life cycle and purpose & task of bees. Pictures and samples of honey comb & wax helped relay information. Marvellous bonus getting to taste a variety of honey. Felt safe in Sameer’s apiary kitted up with professional suits and gauntlets. Great hands on experience and we even got a honey goody bag too! Sam was extremely knowledgeable and could answer all of our curious questions. We learnt a lot about beekeeping and anything that is related to bees. Tried a lot of tasty honey and the beehive visit was so fun!!! The bees were so interesting and my boyfriend is considering having a beehive now :)

Truly fascinating and memorable experience. Sameer is friendly, very knowledgable and interesting. So many things I learnt about bees - completely absorbing. Tasting the different honeys (London honey the best!) and seeing the inside of the hives. Beware the claims of Manuka honey! Thank you so much Sameer . I will come and see you in Pimlico Market soon but I’ll order some Battersea honey before then. I highly recommend this experience

Really fun experience and informative for the length. We got to taste a lot of different types of honey and everyone got a chance to be really up close with the bees. Sameer sounded passionate about what he does and that's a big plus for personal touch.

I’ve always been afraid of bees and was a bit reluctant to go, but with Sameer’s reassurance I not only ended up holding the combs in my hands, but I caught myself looking at bees in my garden closely without running away from them - lime I normally would!:)
Sameer is very passionate about beekeeping, which makes the whole experience absolutely brilliant. I was afraid that we would have a lot of ‘theory’ but not much time at the beehives, but I shouldn’t have worried: we spent a big chunk of our time by the beehives with Sam opening those hives, showing us the life of colonies, pointing out some interesting moments and letting us hold the combs in our hands! Oh, and there’s a lot of honey to taste:)
