Okonomiyaki is a savory pancake. Okonomiyaki literally means "grilled as you like it." Sounds fun, right?
Well, it really is. There are several different kinds of okonomiyaki. In this class, we'll make Osaka-style okonomiyaki—the most popular, and definitely my favorite style. You'll learn how to make not only tasty, but also pretty-looking okonomiyaki. I'll teach you the best timing for turning it over, and how to use the spatulas to do it. It's also a fun and creative part to decorate your okonomiyaki with sauce and toppings.

I'm a mother of two kids and a huge fan of traveling like you are. I backpacked all over the world when I was a student, and I have never forgotten the amazing food I had during my trip. I always wished I had learned how to make those dishes, so I could make them in my own home. That experience inspired me to create my own Japanese cooking class for travelers visiting Japan. You may think Japanese food is difficult to make, but if you know the right techniques, you can make authentic Japanese cuisine even if you're a novice.

We'll be cooking in my kitchen studio COOK! ASAKUSA KAPPABASHI. It takes only 7 minutes to get here by foot from Iriya station(Hibiya Line/Metro)and 13 minutes from Uguisudani station(Yamanote Line/JR). Our place is quite easy to find but if you happen to get lost, please feel free to message me through Airbnb!

Esperienza consigliatissima. Ci si immerge nella cucina giapponese cucinando con gli ingredienti e gli strumenti tipici. Si mangia de buon cibo in compagnia di Yumi che non si risparmia in fatto di consigli e aneddoti. We thoroughly enjoyed our cooking class with Yumi! The food was delicious and she made it such a welcoming environment where we felt very comfortable. She was very thoughtful in providing us advice on our trip and was a very good teacher when it came to the actual cooking! Would highly recommend.

It was such a pleasure to be able to cook alongside Yumi. She is a fantastic teacher - so kind and welcoming. I’m no natural chef myself, but Yumi was very encouraging and made me feel confident in my abilities! The dishes we prepared were delicious and I will definitely be recreating them when I get home! Yumi even went as far to give me some recommendations for things in the area. I would recommend this experience to anyone and I can’t wait to come back again soon! :)

Yumi was an amazing host. From the time we booked, she messaged us to make sure everything was going well and that we arrived in Japan safely. She sent directions and pictures to easily find her place. The cooking class was hands on and well planned. The Okonomiyaki was super tasty and easy enough to try making back home but difficult enough that I wouldn't have known how to do it before. Yumi is very hospitable and treats you like a close friend the second you walk into her house.

Elle a une parfaite maitrise des plats que nous avons préparé avec elle et a su nous transmettre son savoir faire qu'elle tient de sa maman.
