You will mingle with regular Ikebana learners and take a big challenge to create the fundamental Ikebana flower style.
Ikebana artist, Mika Otani, has regular Ikebana classes at 3 different places. You will jump in a regular class and learn the basic skills of Ikebana. You will learn the fundamental Ikebana flower style, the basic upright style of Sogetsu school which is one of the biggest schools in Ikebana world. Every Sogetsu Ikebana artist started their study from this flower style. A teacher will show you how to hold scissor, how to use KENZAN (a needle-pin holder), how to create the basic Ikebana style. After her demonstration, you will try to make the same flower style by yourself. You will understand the sense of space and the meaning of Ikebana with creating your artwork. After arranging Ikebana, we will enjoy a cup of green tea and Japanese confection together and appreciate your work.
You'll be welcomed to Mika's home.That is located on a traditional typical shopping street, one of the longest shopping street in Tokyo

You can lend a container and all tools to create Ikebana.
The nearest station is Soshigaya-okura station of Odakyu line. It takes about 20 mins to get to that station from Shinjyuku station.
