Shodo :Traditional Japanese calligraphy I will teach you the Kanji characters used in ancient Japanese writing. You will learn the basic process of calligraphy, including how to make sumi, the inkstick, and how to hold the brush (fude).By the end you’ll be able to write your own name in Kanji. I’m a professional Shodo artist with a master license, which is the highest level of achievement for calligraphy in Japan. I’ve been practicing Shodo over for 30 years and have experience teaching all of its styles including ancient kanji-character. (kaisho, gyosho, sosho, reisho and tensho) Shodo is a big part of my life and I enjoy sharing with everybody. In addition, I’m learning Ukiyuoe-hanga under master of Edo Ukiyoe hanga, and Sumi drawing (India-ink painting), I’d like to share these experiences with many people and enjoy learning together.
Upon your request, I will show you how to visit Japanese Shinto shrine briefly before the lesson. Please feel free to ask me beforehand. After visiting shrine, we will start the lesson.
