This hands-on tea workshop will be held in a long-established tea shop KIMINOEN conveniently located in Ueno, the heart of Tokyo. The shop has 100 years of history and is fully-stocked with different kinds of teas from various parts of Japan and a wide range of tea ware.
On your arrival at the intimate corner of the tea shop (on the second floor), you will be greeted with a welcome tea.
After learning the basics on Japanese tea, you will be shown how to brew a perfect cup of Sencha green tea. Then it's time for you to try brewing your tea using a Japanese tea pot and cups. Please enjoy the tea with Japanese sweets carefully chosen for you.
Then I will show you other types of Japanese tea including Matcha, Gyokuro, Genmaicha and Hojicha. You will taste each of them and learn how best to prepare a cup to bring home some nice brewing tips.
＊This in not a traditional Japanese tea ceremony. Here you will experience the tea enjoyed in the daily life of the Japanese.

The workshop is designed for non-Japanese with (or even without) interest in Japanese tea.

The tea shop KIMINOEN is a 3-minute walk from JR Ueno Station, Shinobazu Exit.
The shop is in the middle of the popular Ameyoko shopping street. You can enjoy strolling this attractive area at your leisure, before or after the workshop.

It was a refreshing experience and we had at least thre "Ahaaa" moments. We are going to prepare tea in a much better way - which will lead to more joy in drinking tea which in turn will lead to more happiness. What more is there to wish for!

This class is great. I do want to participate in the class like this, no Kimono and just simple, modern and useful tea class. Mitsuko-san taught about brief information, type of Japanese teas, and how to drink these teas. It was wonderful experience and very useful, too. I think I can start to drink Japanese tea at my home. Also, the class was held on the second floor of the tea store, so I didn't have to worry about safety or something else.
