Join me on a locals behind the scenes heritage architecture walking tour of Chengdu's modern day "temple". You will experience the best of heritage architecture juxtaposed against the new icons of today. We will enter private spaces rarely opened up to the public. In between our stopping points you will have time to record your experience by sketching, photography and video. Let me take you on a personal anecdotal journey through a slow paced but eye opening experience of the fastest growing city in the world.
The architectural design of Sino-Ocean Taikoo Li Chengdu embraces the traditional Sichuan style with a creative modern approach, making it a perfect integration of classic and original ingredients. Within the mall, vast plazas, cultural artworks and renewed historical buildings complement each other, showcasing its plenty of cultural charm and modern flavour.

Be prepared for the occasional local snack or drink as we engage with some of the historic buildings creative tenants. Daytime in summer, require sun cream.

For a city that never sleeps... this UNESCO City of Gastronomy caters for all tastes in food, design, fashion and literature. We will visit private Guangdong Hall, Daci Temple, the hidden original city wall and private Library.
Don't forget we've been hear long enough to still show you the more "interesting" parts of the city skyline as we walk around our tour.

Well, This is something I wish I did on my first day and not my last day in Chengdu. A great walking and storytelling slow paced but visually fast paced behind-the-scenes look at Chengdu’s design culture inspired by both KAM and BHAV’s (co-founder of their architecture and interior design studio in Chengdu) work, travel, and their random network of shop owners they know and whom I meet along the way.
The time of year was generally cold for the walk but the host, KAM was considerate of modifying the route with additional tea stops and ending the experience in a rarely available authentic, nicely bamboo design detail restaurant. Sichuan Food and Sichuan design at its best!
I 100% recommend this tour.

I had an awesome time on this local experience I thought I knew so much about but was surprised by Kam’s knowledge and back stories he knew over his time of the Taikooli location and a real native “Chengdu Ren” at heart.
We spoke, we questioned, we drew, we met local artisans, we photographed and generally a really enjoyable afternoon. Well worth the time, hope to carry onto the evening next time. Definitely a valuable experience to share.

We would highly recommend Kam's architectural walking tour of Chengdu.
He is very personable and knowledgeable about the architectural heritage of the area and we looked at a good example of integration of the very old and the new.
Kam took us down behind the scenes and as an architect myself found it great to chat with an architect operating in Chengdu
We also enjoyed sitting in the beautiful tea houses experiencing the architecture in a slow way. This is not your normal fast tick box tour of famous buildings, but rather an experiential walking tour. to be recommended

Kam planned a special visit route for us and some hidden places are wonderful. He knows this city very well and we discussed loads of topics of design in architecture and interior design. Also he knows many people who manage stores in Taikoo Li so you may have a chance to walk into some places you never noticed.
I am really happy to walk around this area with Kam and I hope next time I will be a better designer and English speaker to share more interesting things with him.
