This walking tour for photographers takes you to some of the most colorful temples in Southern Kyoto chosen for their beauty in the season, on a route selected for off the beaten track spots with beautiful maple gardens, cherry orchards, or interesting karesansui dry gravel gardens and architecture. All throughout our walk I'll be giving you photography tips and instruction and pointing out good vantage spots, and please feel free to ask any questions you have about photography.
Depending on the season, we'll be photographing Tofukuji and some of its subtemples, the Fushimi Canal district with its weeping willows and sakura, the off-track Sennyuji complex, Toji Temple, and other attractions in southern Kyoto. We will be available March 23 to April 8 this Spring 2019.

Other things to note
Ideally you should have an ICOCA card or JR Pass for transportation. Please prepare JPY 2,400 for admission fees. If you want to enter less temples, that's also fine.

Hi! I'm Dariel, my wife Cathy and I are both freelance photographers and writers who've fallen head over heels for Kyoto. There's nothing we enjoy more than walking around this lovely old city's back streets in the early mornings or late afternoons, camera in hand, and it's even more fun when we do it with friends. The entire morning will be spent in and around the sprawling Tofukuji complex and its hidden subtemples. After lunch in a nice family-run tonkatsu restaurant, we move on to another interesting and little-visited temple in the south.
