We meet at the Rondevlei Bird hide for a session of waterfowl and waders birding before moving to the channel between Rondevlei and Langvlei. We then move to the Malachite Bird Hide for a coffee break before driving to Duiwerivier. At Duiwerivier we take short walk for riverine forest birding before driving to the Woodville Big Tree. In addition to admiring the 800 year old Outeniqua Yellowood, we take a short walk in search of forest birds, hopefully finding the elusive Narina Trogon and Knysna Warbler. From the big tree we complete the loop with a slow drive through agricultural land in scanning for ground dwelling species like the Denham's Bustard and Black-winged Lapwing.

I have been conducting guided birding tours and nature walks in the Garden Route since May 2004 and the Lakes Loop Birding Tour exhibits the avian diversity of the region. Guests have a good chance of seeing between 50 and 120 species of birds depending on season. In addition to bird identification, I offer in depth information on the species behavior both as an academic and avifaunal field researcher.

I have selected the locations on the Lakes Loop Bird Tour as part of some of my favorite birding sites. Rondevlei Bird Hide is a well placed hide for bird photography and viewing of waterfowl and waders. The channel between Rondevlei and Langvlei is often missed out by birders unfamiliar with the area and is a good site for Flufftail, kingfishers and waterbirds. The forest options are perfect for a range of species.
最多可供4位年滿8歲的旅人參加。 Guests need their own viewing equipment.

The tour is a relaxed tour between sunrise and 11h30. There are 6 stops along the way with bathroom facilities at the Woodvile Big Tree. We will stop at all species that we see.
