We will meet at the Sealife centre on Bray's mile-long promenade that stretches from the old harbour past the childhood home of James Joyce. With rain jackets, sensible shoes and cameras at the ready. We will head up towards Bray Head (791 ft ) it forms part of the Wicklow Mountains and a popular spot for hillwalkers. Bray head is an ideal location for landscape photography, There is a great deal of diversity in this environment from the from the intimate details of the forest and it's Sessile Oak, Hawthorn, ash, birch and holly to the grand vista at the summit of Bray head looking out over the Wicklow mountains on one side and towards the sea and Killiney bay on the other Not only will we discover many different vantage points from which to photograph this landscape but we will also discuss photographic techniques for landscape photography. After our walk, we will return to the promenade which is 5 minutes from the Dart train station and car park.
Well if you’re here you probably want to know a little more about me. I am a Wicklow based photographer and photography teacher I’ve been doing it for quite sometime now. My images have been published nationally and internationally and even landed on the pages of a few glossy magazines but more, importantly they have introduced me to some wonderful people. My work is predominantly portraiture and landscape and I love the outdoors. I want to share with you some of Ireland's most beautiful landscapes and help you make images that you will cherish for years to come.
Our walk will take us to the start of the coastal walk with views out to sea and over the whole of the bay, From there we will make our way through the forest of Sessile Oak, Hawthorn, ash, birch and holly. This is an ever-changing environment at times golden light penetrates the forest canopy on other days grey mist fills the forest. Once out of the forest we approach the summit with views of the rolling Wicklow mountains in the distance.
This is a practical photo walk so a camera is a must, Also the weather in Ireland is well unpredictable too say the least - Rain jacket, good walking boots and a bottle of water are a must.
