I have been an artisan creator of traditional Japanese hair decorations for the past 14 years. During that time, I have taught this craft to over 10,000 people. I am the fourth tsumami zaiku artisan in my family, to carry on this traditional craft. I love travel, and during my days as a student, I backpacked around many countries, meeting lots of people along the way. We love meeting fellow travelers and those who enjoy traditional arts, so we hope you will come learn more about this craft with us!

This experience is located at our property, which is in front of Daitoku-ji, a famous Zen temple in Kyoto. The annex is a traditional Kyoto home, over a hundred years old. It also houses artwork from artists from around the world. Before and after the experience, we recommend visiting other places in the area, such as the Zen rock garden at Daitoku-ji, or Imamiya Shrine which is home to the oldest teahouse in Japan, over 1000 years old!
