The sky guided tour is at the countryside in the Elqui's Valley, near La Serena city and it lasts about 4 hours including the time to get to the observing point (about an hour from La Serena).When we get there, while we get our eyes get used to darkness, we'll look at the sky at unaided eye to understand our position in the solar system and in the galaxy.
When the telescope and our eyes got ready, the stargaze session begins with explanations of the objects we see through the eyepiece.
We're going to observe deep sky objects that will help us to understand the stellar evolution, getting a glimpse to the story of the universe.
We'll see the emission nebulas where the stars get born. The young and bright stellar open clusters and the the biggest globular cluster in the Milky Way, Omega Centauri and 47 Tuc, only visible from here. Depending on the time of the year, we'll see some lonely ghosts of stars alike to our sun, that died not long ago; the beautiful planetary nebulas.
Far away Galaxies will be the final target of the night.

I'll pick you up from your place, I'll drive you for about 25 minutes into the Equi Valley through the 41 route (route of the stars), then for another 15 minutes we'll head to the south through the "Quebrada de Talca" zone to my personal observation spot. It's a lonely and quiet place by the road, with a great horizon and really deep dark sky, which is perfect for the stargazing session.

Por lejos una de las experiencias más geniales que he tenido, Rolando es muy preocupado y su señora te envía una canasta con cosas para que tengas un pequeño entremés mientras él prepara todo. La vista es maravillosa y Rolando va siempre hablándote de lo que sabe y puedes sentir su pasión en lo que hace. Realmente es algo que debes hacer aprovechando los cielos de La Serena.

We had a great time on Rolando's star watching experience. He was very engaging and knowledgeable about the stars and showed us some of his favourite celestial objects. We had plenty of time to see everything and never felt rushed. The ride was comfortable and the hot drinks and snacks was a nice touch.
