體驗簡介
Here, in very silent temple at the foot of Mt.Kasuga, learn Ajikan meditation in a easy comprehensive way!
"Ajikan" is a visualizing Meditation as one of Shingon esoteric exercises, which is different from 'Zazen' aiming to eliminate the ego.
Ajikan is a general term referring to four different stages of meditation: Susokukan (breath counting meditation), Asokukan (breathing meditation), Gachirinkan (moon disc meditation) and Ajikan (meditating on a sanscrit letter A).
1) At the entrance of the ascetic hall, take off yr shoes, put yr baggage, and take incense powder to purify yourself.
2) Proceed to ascetic hall, and I will give you brief profile of the temple, and how to meditate in Ajikan style. Meditations will be split into 3 sessions, you can stretch your legs if you feel stiff.
3) The program will cover two of the above stages of meditation - Susokukan and Gachirinkan, but in several five to fifteen minutes sessions concentrating on breathing and each part of the body and face.
Visualization of being as one with the moon and universe in the meditation helps you achieve mindfulness and refreshment!
As I hope my guests will get better understandings of Ajikan method to their heart's content. I normally have a translator to join the meditation and to communicate, which service I believe is my specialty compared to other Shingon temples.
Other things to note
You are supposed to take off your shoes and be prepared with your feet and socks clean.(We can help your cleaning feet at the entrance, of course!)

I may be one of the enthusiastic monks in Nara wishing to share what a "Ajikan" visualizing meditation is all about, and hope you may have a chance to get the knack of this method to bring home and continue by yourself.
Breath counting in this meditation may help you also going in to sleep when at home or when you are suffering from jet-lag during your travel!
I am the chief priest of the temple Fuku-in having most of my learning experience at Koyasan. At Koyasan I was given precepts, and finished necessary trainings at "Entsuritsuji" temple ascetic hall. Finally, I was Invested the rank of 'ajari,' or master, at "Shin-no-in" temple ascetic hall.
My temple is at the foot of Mt.Kasuga near Kasugataisha, and your access is easier from there.
Contact me for adding your wished class dates, I'll do my best for welcoming you!

This is a unique opportunity to get a glimpse into the Buddhist culture. We appreciated all the information about Buddhism that came along with the meditation experience. This is a must do for travellers who want to deepen their understanding of culture in Japan.

I had a really special one on one experience with Shinren and a lovely Buddhist monk at Fuku-In Temple during my Japan travels. They thoroughly go through the art of Ajikan meditation and its different stages while allowing you to practice in between thoughtful discussion. Very relaxing for those who have maybe done meditation before and very enlightening to those wanting to learn a different branch of meditation - also a beautiful way to immerse yourself within another culture. Shinren is a lovely host and knows the area well! Super close to Nara park so you’ll get to explore afterwards. Thanks again Shinren 🙏
