體驗簡介
SAORImôr is one of only 5 registered SAORI studios in the UK and the only one in Wales. I offer this very special opportunity to do this unique craft in one of the most stunning areas of the UK. As a Japanese based craft this activity also offers a link between the mountains and sea of North Wales and the mountains and sea of Japan and a peep into Japanese culture and practice. Weaving is an important part of our Welsh heritage so by taking a short weaving class at SAORImôr you can learn more about how traditional Welsh blankets were made. A SAORI class is easy and fun. The looms are set up and ready for you to weave. Simply choose your colour and texture from the rainbow colour wall, sit at the loom and begin. No rules, no mistakes, just joy! You take your unique piece of weaving home with you.
Other things to note
I have complied with all recommendations for protection against Covid-19.
The studio is wheelchair accessible (unfortunately not the toilet) and I have accessible equipment to enable people of all abilities to weave.

I trained in woven textiles a long time ago now and have years of experience in selling and exhibiting my own pieces and in teaching handloom weaving. Running my SAORI studio allows me the opportunity to follow my passion and pass it on to others, helping them to explore their own creativity in a caring and supportive environment.

The classes take place in my own studio in Bangor. It is a light, warm, relaxing and supportive environment. SAORImôr is easy to find and is accessible by public transport being just 2 minutes walk from the mainline station and on regular bus routes to Bangor. The other advantage of being in the city is that there are plenty of excellent cafes and restaurants to make your visit worthwhile.
If you’re looking for something different to do, this is for you, if you’re after a couple of hours of ‘you’ time, this is for you, if you want to make something beautiful, this is for you.....and even if you think it’s not for you.....give it a go!
I had a fab morning making something beautiful in Rosie’s Bangor studio, she had made adjustments to make the space social distancing compliant but it still welcoming. She was very knowledgeable and passionate about Saori weaving and mixed guiding us technically with giving us the freedom to be creative.
