We will meet in Hanoi and I will drive you to my hometown in the countryside. Once there, we will explore the history of water puppetry. You'll learn about when and why the people created this art form, what content people use to perform it, how people control the dolls in the water stage, and how they carve and paint the wooden dolls. Then, in a pond's water stage, we'll enjoy the best performance by skilled artists. Around lunch time, we'll go to my home, ride bikes to the local market, and select our fresh ingredients for lunch. We'll then take a cooking class with my mom, who will show us how to prepare special local dishes from my hometown. As she doesn't speak English, I will be your translator. Afterwards, we'll enjoy iced tea with Cay cake, a specialty from my hometown, in the fresh air under a giant banyan tree—the symbol of every countryside area in Vietnam. I'll be very happy to share my local life and culture with you.
I was born and raised in the peaceful countryside outside of Hanoi. My hometown is a nice choice for anyone who wants to escape the crowds and noise of the city to discover a non-tourist place. It is also the original area of water puppetry—a form of folk art originating in the Red River Delta in the north of Vietnam. It will be my great honor to bring you to my hometown to learn about the history of water puppetry and to see all the pleasures of living in the countryside.

Comfortable car to share
My hometown in the countryside is about 90 kilometers from Hanoi and two hours by car. It's a typical agricultural area and most of the people are farmers. They are very honest, plain, and hospitable. I am sure that you will not see any tourists in my hometown. This experience will be a smart choice if you are looking for a quiet and beautiful place for a relaxing day.
