體驗簡介

We will meet at Central Park because it is an easy place to locate. From there we will begin our journey through Obispo Street, which is full of stories and culinary traditions. Our first culinary stop will be at the Chocolate Museum, where we will taste handmade chocolates, while I will tell you about the peculiarities of our chocolate and its history. Our second culinary stop will be at the El Escorial cafe, where we can enjoy an espresso. Both our chocolate and our coffee are world class, we will know the reasons for its success. Finally we will visit La cervecera, a space that not only functions as a cafeteria but also as a small factory, which produces everything it sells. There we will close our tour with a final toast.
Other things to note
Travelers should remember that Cuba is an eternal summer, they should wear comfortable clothes and shoes and stay hydrated. Also, those who need it should bring sunscreen.

I´m passionate about food, I like to know about their properties and their stories. For this reason I studied Chemistry in food (I´m a chocolate master) and, for a long time, I worked linked to productions in factories. That is, I know the productive processes; however, what really fascinates me is the hide story that each of them: how they came to our country and how they were determining our culinary tradition and culture. This knowledge is what I´m interested in transmitting.

Many times we go to places that seem good to us; but whose stories are extremely exciting and unknown. We all like chocolate or coffee, the truth is that they are Central American products that have a long tradition. Few people know that cocoa seeds worked like coins in the ancient Aztec Empire, nor that coffee needs to be sown in the coldest mountains of our country to reach its final flavor. My intention is to fill them with other meanings.

This tour was nice. You will get coffee and ice cream both of which were great. The host is very bubbly and friendly and makes your fee comfortable. Keep in mind the chocolate museum is closed so you will not be able to go there, but other than that we enjoyed ourselves!

This is a difficult review to write because I genuinely enjoyed our host: she was very friendly and certainly tried to make the tour as good as it could be given the circumstances. With that being said though, the information that made us sign up for the tour was misleading. It was originally started by her sister who has since moved to Mexico City. Kailuma isn’t a food scientist or working at the chocolate factory so her area of expertise is not coffee, beer, and chocolate as described. The chocolate factory is closed until further notice so regardless this won’t be part of the tour (we didn’t know that ahead of time and were really disappointed when we found out). We also went on New Year’s Day so almost everything was closed. We had asked ahead of time if New Year’s Day was an ok time for the tour and was told it was. Had we known this information ahead of time we wouldn’t have booked this tour.

The experience was great. However, it did not match the experience that was advertised. We paid for entrance to a chocolate and beer tour. Both of those places were closed on the day of our experience. We did stop for coffee, but that was something we did every day at a new place in Cuba. The host who showed up was the sister of the Airbnb host. The host online was a food scientist who was now living in Mexico. The sister of the host was great for conversation and for walking us around, but it was not what we paid for.

By the time our tour rolled around, my husband and I had already experienced quite a bit of what was supposed to be our tour, on our own, through no fault of Kailuma, of course. However, it wasn't Kailuma who met with us, it was her sister Yailuma who was such a sweetheart and we really connected. To us, it didn't feel touristy, it just felt like we were out on the town with a good friend and we had fun. Thank you Yailuma ;)

I highly recommend this trip. I especially liked the art market. You can find many amazing paintings for unbelievably low prices. You can also buy many different kinds of souvenirs. Yailuma is a wonderful host.

The walk was ok. I liked the last stop for the beer the best. The venue was really neat and may not have been a place you would normally stumble across.
