• Meet at our Cultural Outdoor Education Center located in the Slocan Valley near Winlaw, British Columbia, Canada
.Learn how to build a fire
• listen to a Traditional Indigenous Knowledge Keeper and Elder tell fascinating stories reflecting our Traditional Indigenous Worldviews, Values, Laws and sense of humour
• learn ancient meditation techniques used to ground yourself, master anxiety and commune with Mother Earth in our traditional way (this practice can be taken deeper, depending on the aptitude and meditation experience of the participants)
• practice traditional Indigenous drumming techniques with raw hide drums (drums provided or you can bring your own)
. learn about some of our local ethnobotany
. carve your own "water stick," used as a percussion instrument for ceremony or campfire songs
• drink herbal tea made from plants picked on the land
Other things to note
We are starting to see signs of spring, but winter is not over yet. So dress in layers. We will sit next to a nice warm fire while we learn to drum, sing, carve our water sticks and drink tea.

I am a Traditional Indigenous Knowledge Keeper who has traveled extensively in different countries and am accustomed to creating positive cross-cultural relations with peoples of all colours. I work as a professional Cultural Outdoor Educator (www.fournations.net) and I have been nationally recognized for creating cultural outdoor education programs for youth.
I am funny and I excel at storytelling. I love offering this unique experience for anyone wanting to engage and feel included in authentic Indigenous culture and the natural environment through an ancient, traditional lens.

We'll be spending our time at our Cultural Outdoor Education and Wellness Center. We are located on 7 acres of heaven in the Slocan Valley in British Columbia, Canada. Surrounded by mountains, rivers and lakes; you may spot bald eagles, mountain goats, black bears, grizzly bears, cougar, osprey, hawks, deer, elk, coyotes and sometimes moose.
A fire will be provided for participants to stay warm during our winter months.

This experience has put in front of me something I rarely find in my everyday living, as I am accustomed to viewing life from my cluttered, North American mindset, with its accompanying sense of entitlements. And although I have often felt the presence and warmth of seemingly non-existent entities near me while walking through a forest, and have heard silent voices speaking to me while working in a garden, I have never understood the real significance of those experiences until now.
Thank you, Kathryn, for expanding my vision of LIFE! I am humbled and amazed and grateful! Spending the day with you immersed in Canadian Indigenous Culture has left me with a heightened appreciation for my part in the world and an incredible peace in my soul.
I wholeheartedly recommend this experience for anyone who wants to broaden their understanding of the connection between the seen and the unseen. Kathryn knows how to lead the way.

Kat was a kind, gracious and informative host. Her in depth knowledge of the Indigenous cultures and traditions of the local area, Pacific Northwest and the entire world will leave you with a better understanding of the people(s) we all come from and the earth that we all share as a home. The handmade percussion instruments were a fun experience and again, learned SO much about trees that are in my own backyard! Wild herb tea was served and sweet blessed tobacco was smudged and my wife and I left feeling more at peace, not only with ourselves, but also with the world we call home. Thank you Kat and thank you Jess! Highly recommend this experience to anyone!
