體驗簡介

We'll welcome you to our farm with the story of how two women with traditional careers (one in grounds and landscape management and one in health care administration) become full-fledged flower farmers and AirBnb Super-Hosts on a retired Wisconsin dairy farm.

We'll cover (and experience together) some of the seasonal farm activities of tilling, planting, growing, weeding, watering, harvesting, producing, selling, and composting. We'll demonstrate unique equipment we've acquired (including a Drangen lay-down work cart, Japanese paper-pots and a soil-blocker) and show how they make growing easier and more efficient.

We'll share what we've learned about the business of specialty flower growing, including why buying local flowers is so important! We'll talk about hard realities too -- like battling weeds to find blooms that are barely surviving and figuring out how to sell sunflowers that are blooming all at once. We won't sugar-coat the worry about making it through the winter in a seasonal business! Finally, we'll tour our beautiful property - the historic stone house, vintage green house, old milk house turned walk-in floral cooler, and the traditional dairy farm outbuildings including the huge, iconic red barn.
Other things to note
There will be uneven terrain and some steps involved in touring the property. Come prepared to experience outdoor conditions (like heat, humidity, rain, and/or mosquitoes)!
