Chinese tea to most people is that common, slightly bitter beverage that is served at Chinese wedding dinners and restaurants. Few have experienced the ambiance and the highly therapeutic effects of the traditional art of Chinese tea making in an authentic Chinese teahouse. In fact, avid Chinese tea drinkers are known to pursue the perfect tea leaf as fervently as connoisseurs of fine wines.
At our Tea Workshops, you will learn about:
• Chinese culture, arts and the history of tea
• Recognizing the various kinds of tea leaves and equipment
• Preparing tea the traditional way
• Tea and its relationship to your health
There will be a hands-on tea making experience afterward where you get to try 6 types of premium tea provided by us.
We will also provide 5 small snacks to be enjoyed during the hands-on tea session and to wrap it up, you will leave with a gift at the end of the session - to take home a premium tea pack worth $15.

Hi there! My name is Charlene and I am the teahouse's second generation owner. My father, Vincent, a former banker, founded the teahouse in 1989. Similarly, having spent some time in the financial sector, I realized it wasn’t my cup of tea and decided to follow in his footsteps, joining him in spreading the joys of tea appreciation.
These days my father and me take turns to conduct the internationally popular Tea Appreciation workshops. We will show you the joy and beauty of brewing and enjoying an exquisite pot of tea,and educating you on the plethora of benefits that comes with drinking tea

Yixing Xuan can be translated to mean a happy and relaxing small house. True to its name, we will conduct the workshop in our teahouse which is tucked away amongst the beautifully restored pre-war shophouses along Tanjong Pager Road, just 4 mins away from Tanjong Pagar MRT Station.

A well crafted, cultured, and thoughtful experience. Would highly recommend! Charlene and her father are incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about reviving the ancient art and appreciation of tea. It’s approachable and knowing a bit about the cultivation of tea prior, I left learning so much more than I anticipated. It covered a wide range of topics, they were open for questions, and it was just a very professional and lovely experience.

We really enjoyed our time with Charlene and learnt a lot about not just the origins of the tea plant, but also about the Chinese ceremony of tea drinking. Would reccomend as an introduction to the world of tea! Delicious homemade snack also :)

I really enjoyed the tea appreciation workshop. It was great and very authentic. After we were warmly welcomed by the family, we learnt about the differences in tea, its preparation and we could try the different kinds. They have an impressive expertise on tea and the food was delicious. I recommend this workshop to everyone in Singapore. Thank you so much for offering this unique experience!

Such a great and immersive experience. We have been warmly welcomed by Charlene and Vincent taught us a lot about tea and tea ceremony. We also enjoyed the gluten rice dumpling and the home made chili sauce. Definitely a place to go in Singapore whether you’re a local or a tourist. Warmly recommended to all tea lovers and all who are willing to know about it.

The tea appreciation workshop was one of the highlights of my Singapore trip. I was blown away by the sheer knowledge and expertise Charlene has on the subject of Chinese tea, while she showed how a proper cup of tea is brewed, and provided a sampling of a tea, whether it be white, green, oolong or black, along with a meal of sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaf. It was a beautiful experience right before my flight from Singapore; I absolutely loved the atmosphere of the teahouse and hope to visit again for a cup of tea!

I’ve leant about tea and the culture. The tea master was very nice and warm.
They also offered us homemade dim sum. Tasted wonderful! The tea house was cozy. You can buy tea and tea pots there.
My interests toward tea increased! I made a great choice to take this workshop.
