We will meet at the Church car park in the village and I will explain to you about the history of Letterfrack and how the park came to be. You will hear all about the Ellis family who farmed this land during the famine. I will show you their family home and explain how they cared for the people and how they shaped the landscape. We will walk through the woodland out onto the bog. I will tell stories of folklore of bog plants , uses in a by gone age and we will find insect-eating plants on our journey and see where people cut the turf a 150 years ago. We will climb up the diamond (not to the top) and see views of Clare Island, Achill, Inishbofin and Inishturk before heading back to the visitor centre.

The church car park can be found by coming to the centre of the village of Letterfrack . There is a crossroads take the turn beside the clover fox bar and 300m later you will see the church.
