Look around the house and orchard as we give a short history of how we changed from film-makers into jam-makers (our house has been the subject of features in both Good Housekeeping & Country Life ). Then you’ll be ready to put on pinafores and prepare your own batch of seasonal jam, with us alongside as guides and colleagues. In the professional kitchen, we’ll prepare together the fruit(s) of the moment. We’ll cook the fruit into to jam, using our traditional copper basins and organic cane sugar. As the jam develops, we’ll track its sugar content with both our réfractomètre, and with the simple wrinkle test. We’ll pot up the finished jam into jars and seal and rinse the jars. Then our guests settle into our Tearoom for a Cream Tea experience centered around their own jams ( fresh) plus a selection of our mature jams. -3 hours in all. 50 euros inclusive -No special materials required -French or English spoken
The two of us, ex film makers, created, cooked, bottled and marketed Tea Together organic artisanal jams. With no budget, it rapidly became the jam of choice for top chefs and their five star hotels, from Claridges to Costes to Alain Ducasse to the Mandarin in HK and Raffles in Singapore. All from a fermette in a tiny village in northern France, where we still live. When the eldest son decided to take over the business, we opened Le Tearoom on the farm, making the same jams but adding home made scones. The countryside is stunning, and we know lots of local fine food producers.
