Experience life in a modern Peranakan home. You will learn about this colourful sub-culture who reached their heyday in the early 19th century.
Learn how to make Bunga Rampai - a local version of Potpourri that is the hallmark of our hospitality.
We will relate to you the history and heritage of the Peranakans through our family heirloom collection of Peranakan artefacts. You will get up close and personal with some of these artefacts, including the furniture, textiles, jewellery, porcelain and cooking utensils.
What experience could end without food? Enjoy a cup of tea and authentic Peranakan snacks to fully immerse in this culture as we answer any questions you may have.

Peranakans are a group of migrants who have made South-East-Asia their home since the 1500's and earlier. They can include migrants from China, India and even Europe. I am a Singapore Chinese Peranakan who has re-discovered his roots while living in Australia and eager to share!
My co-host is 5th generation Chinese Peranakan, who is a custodian of his family's history, and a cultural ambassador.

I was feeling so touching after listened Host’s family stories. As a guest, you will experience how the peranakan culture evolved over few hundred years. Also the traditional Gui (cake) provided in the experience are so delicious, it’s actually handmade from host Matt. Thanks a lot!

It was a very interesting experience. I got to know a lot about the Peranakan background and culture. The peranakan kuih delicacies was delicious! One thing that would be great is if there was more hands on experience and it would've been perfect :) and one last thing, Matt was very responsive and took into consideration of everyone's food allergies and tried to cater to us, which was nice of him. Thanks again Matt!

The experience itself is good. I was expecting more for the amount that I paid. The introduction to Peranakan is fantastic however I felt they could have done more to keep the group engaging. Nevertheless, Matt and Norman is a great host. I would recommend this experience for people who’d like to know more about Peranakan.
