I'll give you a DJ master class, using vinyl. Why? Because you need to be ready to perform alongside me at one of Mexico City's trendiest bars. That's right! We'll get started with the class and, depending on how well you get on, we'll put together a short set to play later in the club. You can bring your own equipment and music, or I'll lend you records and playlists which we can mix and match to create our own. Then we'll head to the club and you'll work your magic, with me by your side to ensure that you make the most of your night as a DJ superstar.
Other things to note
You're welcome to stay at the club after 11pm if you want. My sets are a mix of funk, soul, alternative rock, deep house, latin, and old school, so that's the kind of music we'll be playing together.

I've been a resident DJ in the finest venues in Mexico City for the past 20 years. Throughout the years, I've given many DJ master classes to people from different origins and backgrounds. To me, there's nothing better than providing someone with an unforgettable night with music they love and will cherish for good.

The DJ master class will start off in the studio, where I'll teach you the basics of how to spin the decks. Whatever your skills or however fast you learn, you'll be spinning a few tunes in one of the bars or clubs where I'm a resident DJ in the downtown, Roma and Condesa neighborhoods.

This experience was awesome! I've been to 30+ countries around the world and I've never done anything quite like this. The lesson was very thorough and easy to understand, and you get lots of practice trying things out for yourself. Getting to work live was an unreal experience that I won't soon forget.

This experience was fantastic for wading into mixing. Ricardo is a very knowledgable and experienced teacher. He gave well-structured exercises that built on one another to develop more advanced skills. He also encourages play and exploration with the tools at hand. (Mixers! Controllers! Computers! Records!)
Playing at an actual bar had a really cool effect of contextualizing the theory of our earlier exercises and underscoring the importance of keeping the audience/venue at the front of mind in the actual practice of being a DJ.
Overall, I really, really, really enjoyed the experience.

Ricardo set up a really comprehensive intro to DJing! You'll learn the basics about turn tables, how to handle vinyls, beat matching- after his class the mixer stops resembling an airplane cockpit and kind of starts to make sense! The club experience was great too. Ricardo does a great job at making you feel comfortable playing a few songs, and if you're not from CDMX you get to a add a new cool bar/ club to your list. I honestly feel like I think about music and mixing so much differently now - five stars!
