體驗簡介
This is the most unique, non-touristy experience you’ll have in Fairbanks. We’ll explore the ever-changing braided, glacial-fed Tanana River from our 90 private acres. Depending on the aurora forecast, (https://www.gi.alaska.edu/monitors/aurora-forecast) and cloud cover, and time of day, this is a premium viewing area. This experience is a guided walking tour of the riverfront property, walking ON the Tanana river, and plenty of time for photographing the northern lights. If the aurora are not out, you’ll still see animal tracks, walk on a frozen river, see the stars, and enjoy Alaska’s crisp clean air. We’ll finish with warm drinks and snacks in our cozy guest house.
Other things to note
Directions: Chena Pump Road. Left on Rosie Creek. Right on Melanie/Chief John Drive. Turn left at 2340 Chief John Drive. Follow the driveway past the tall yellow house to light brown guest house at the river.

I’ve lived in Fairbanks for 35 years, and enjoy helping people from around the world experience “real” Alaska. I’m an avid outdoors person, and enjoy backpacking, cross country skiing, trail running and all that Alaska has to offer. I’m also an economist at the International Arctic Research Center at UAF.
體驗地點
You’ll explore a wilderness area accessed on private land which only a few people visiting Fairbanks will experience. We’ll walk across on a frozen river slough, around an island, and then hike on the mighty Tanana River. At night, this is a wide open space and an ideal place to view the Aurora. We’ll proceed to an Alaskan airstrip, and then make our way back to our warm home for snacks and hot cocoa, coffee, or tea.
Sherri was a wonderful host! She exceeded beyond my expectations—she showed incredible hospitality & warmth. It didn’t feel like we were being guided by a commercial tour guide, but rather a long-time friend we’ve known for years. Thank you Sherri for this unique and magical experience!

What can I say! I really enjoyed my evening walking tour! Although Sherri was out of town on this one her really good friend April stepped in an made everyone feel so welcomed. He knowledge on the Alaskan land & actually being a local was a plus for me. The Northern lights can be a hit or miss if they decide to come out. Unfortunately if was too cloudy that evening. However taking a nice stroll along the trail, Making a small natural fire 🔥 & learning about the land has created a memorable experience for me within its self. Book-it!
